Value Realization Framework

The value realization framework is a structured methodology for defining, measuring, tracking, and verifying business value delivery from AI transformation initiatives throughout the entire COMPEL lifecycle.

What this means in practice

It encompasses value thesis development (articulating the expected business outcomes before investment), KPI hierarchy design (connecting operational metrics to strategic objectives), benefit baseline measurement, ROI calculation models appropriate to AI investments, executive dashboard design for ongoing value communication, and continuous value optimization practices that capture lessons learned to improve future value delivery.

Why it matters

The inability to demonstrate AI ROI is the most frequently cited challenge by transformation leaders. Without a structured value realization framework, organizations cannot connect AI investments to measurable business outcomes, leading to budget cuts, stakeholder disengagement, and abandoned transformation programs. A rigorous framework provides the evidence base needed to sustain executive sponsorship and justify continued investment.

How COMPEL uses it

The value realization framework is embodied in the Value Realization cross-cutting layer that spans all six COMPEL stages. During Calibrate, value theses and baselines are established. During Model, KPI hierarchies are designed. During Produce, measurement infrastructure is deployed. During Evaluate, value is verified against theses. During Learn, optimization insights are captured. The AITS-VDT specialization validates deep competency in value realization methodology.
