COMPEL Glossary / ce-credit

CE Credit

Continuing Education credits earned by completing credentials, attending events, or maintaining professional activity within the COMPEL ecosystem.

What this means in practice

CE credits are required for certification renewal and are granted by micro-credentials (4 CE each), specializations (8-12 CE each), competency badges (2 CE each), and joint credentials (6-8 CE each). External credentials verified through the External Training Bridge also grant CE credits toward specific COMPEL certifications.

Why it matters

CE credits ensure that certified professionals maintain current knowledge and continue developing beyond their initial certification. They also create a unified currency across the credential ecosystem, making every learning investment visible and countable toward renewal requirements.

How COMPEL uses it

CE credits are tracked in the CE Tracker, earned across all credential types, and required for certification renewal. The Learn stage of COMPEL emphasizes continuous improvement, and CE credit requirements ensure that certified professionals embody this principle in their own professional development.
