COMPEL Glossary / scrum-of-scrums

Scrum of Scrums

Scrum of scrums is a coordination mechanism where representatives from multiple agile teams meet regularly to share progress, surface cross-team dependencies, and resolve inter-team issues in large transformation programs with five or more concurrent workstreams.

What this means in practice

Rather than requiring all team members to attend a single large meeting, each workstream holds its own internal stand-up and one representative brings cross-stream items to the coordination meeting. For organizations running large AI transformation programs, scrum of scrums provides the scalable coordination needed when a single daily stand-up cannot accommodate all participants. In COMPEL, it is one of the coordination patterns described in Module 2.4 on multi-workstream coordination.
