COMPEL Glossary / executive-coaching

Executive Coaching

Executive coaching in the COMPEL context is the structured, one-on-one developmental relationship where an AITGP-level consultant helps senior leaders develop the mindset, capabilities, and behaviors needed to champion, sustain, and personally embody AI transformation in their organizations.

What this means in practice

Unlike general executive coaching, COMPEL executive coaching specifically addresses the challenges leaders face during AI transformation: managing uncertainty about technology, making investment decisions with incomplete information, balancing innovation with risk management, and maintaining transformation momentum through organizational resistance. In COMPEL, executive coaching is covered in Module 3.2, Article 3, where it is positioned as a core AITGP competency that distinguishes strategic transformation consultants from technical advisors who work only with operational teams.

Why it matters

Senior leaders face unique challenges during AI transformation: managing uncertainty about technology, making investment decisions with incomplete information, and maintaining momentum through organizational resistance. Without targeted coaching, leaders may default to risk-averse behaviors that stall transformation or, conversely, make uninformed technology bets. Effective executive coaching bridges the gap between AI capability and leadership confidence.

How COMPEL uses it

Executive coaching is a core AITGP competency covered in Module 3.2, Article 3, distinguishing strategic transformation consultants from technical advisors who work only with operational teams. During the full engagement lifecycle, AITGPs provide structured coaching to C-suite sponsors and leaders, helping them develop the mindset and behaviors needed to champion and sustain AI transformation within their organizations.
